About Louise
Her Prana Yoga teaching experience includes the Stony Brook University Cancer Center, Lima Yogashala in Peru, Stony Brook University Wellness Center, Commack Library, Kings Park Library, Port Jefferson Free Library, and Yoga for Life Studio in Setauket. Her students have included cancer patients, families infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, children with learning disabilities, and women living in a domestic violence shelter. Louise is also comfortable with teaching Prana Yoga classes in Spanish. In June 2008, she completed the 650 hour training to become a certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner. She often reflects back on the year-long experience with a heart full of gratitude for her transformative personal growth and tools she learned to "Turn Stress into Bliss." She is especially thankful that she was able to audit the Phoenix Rising Group Facilitator Training which trains yoga therapists to lead an 8-week group stress reduction program. Louise is currently in medical school and is not teaching any scheduled classes at this time. When possible, she continues to offer Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy sessions. To integrate play and fun
into her life, Louise enjoys Acroyoga, which is an integration of yoga,
acrobatics, and Thai yoga massage. For fun, here's a quick Acroyoga performance
of Louise with her medical school classmates Stacey and Nkiru (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKYzhheqkC0).
Louise regularly attends Kirtans, also known as devotional chanting, and
especially enjoys the artists David Newman, Snatam Kaur, Girish, Krishna Das,
and Deva Premal. A regular meditation practice with the guidance of the works of
Eckhart Tolle keeps
her grounded. She loves connecting with nature, especially
amongst trees, in water, and under the stars. |
